Tweseldown 9th March

What a fabulous day to be out eventing!  There have been spring days at Tweseldown where it has been so cold the horses have not even needed washing off after cross country but day 1 of 4 days of Tweseldown felt like spring had sprung for the first time this year.  Lovely sunshine, a light wind and a cracking course, described by ERM entrepreneur Di Brunsden as “having a Championship feel to it” coupled with a great showjumping in the main arena made it feel very grown up.  Gone are the days when Tweseldown had a hunter trial feel to it with some flags and numbers added to a tired cross country schooling venue for sure.

Never the less there were still plenty of uber fresh horses delighted to be back out competing again.  Persimmon (Percy) is a new ride for Tom, owned by long term supporter Jane Inns and he was super excited to be back on the  competition scene as his 42 dressage score proved!  But a lovely double clear followed and it was a very happy Percy at the end of the day and a delighted Tom… there is nothing nicer than riding really experienced horses cross country after all!

Royal Roxey does not quite have Percy’s experience yet but she started out her season well with a 36 dressage ( also quite bright!), a couple of green poles and then a really confident cross county round.

Tom is back on Friday with some novices before that rare thing in March.. a weekend off!

Royal Roxey, many thanks to Uptown Eventing for the image
